Lusail International Circuit

The circuit was built in less than a year at a cost of US$58 million by the Qatar Motorcycling and Motorcycle Federation. Nearly 1,000 workers had to be on site around the clock to prepare it for the inaugural event, the Qatar Marlboro Grand Prix, on October 2, 2004.

Designed primarily with motorcycles in mind, the track itself is a flowing 5.4-kilometre layout, surrounded by artificial turf designed to prevent sand from the surrounding desert blowing onto the circuit. The main straight is over a kilometre long and contains a good mix of medium and high-speed corners, including a couple of fast left-hand corners that have proven very popular with riders.
